Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lentils rinsed
  • 1 tbsp Tamarind Paste
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tsp Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder

Instructions: 

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until golden brown.
  • Add the cumin and turmeric powders. Stir well.
  • Add the rinsed lentils, tamarind paste, and water. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and let it simmer for 30-35 minutes, or until lentils are tender.
  • Season with salt to taste. Serve hot.

Notes:

This stew pairs well with rice or bread.
