Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef short ribs
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger sliced
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions: 

  • 1. Soak the short ribs in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess blood. Drain and set aside.
  • 2. In a large pot, add the short ribs, water, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and onion. Bring to a boil.
  • 3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1.5 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  • 4. Add the carrots and potatoes. Continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  • 5. Stir in the sesame oil and green onions. Serve hot.

Notes:

For a richer flavor, you can add a few dried shiitake mushrooms to the stew.
