Ingredients:  

Stew Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Beef Stew Meat
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 4 cups Beef Broth
  • 2 cups Carrots sliced
  • 2 cups Potatoes diced
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tsp Thyme dried
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper

Dumpling Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 tbsp Butter melted

Instructions: 

  • 1. In a large pot, brown the beef stew meat over medium heat.
  • 2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cook until softened.
  • 3. Stir in the tomato paste, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • 4. Pour in the beef broth, add the carrots and potatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  • 5. For the dumplings, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined.
  • 6. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling batter onto the simmering stew. Cover and cook for another 20 minutes.

Notes:

Make sure the stew is simmering gently when you add the dumplings.
