Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Pork shoulder, cut into chunks
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 6 cups Chicken broth
  • 2 cans Hominy, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Garnishes

  • 1 cup Shredded cabbage
  • 1 Radishes, sliced
  • 1 Lime, cut into wedges
  • 1 cup Chopped cilantro

Instructions: 

  • 1. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the pork and cook until browned on all sides.
  • 2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the onion is translucent.
  • 3. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 1 hour, or until the pork is tender.
  • 4. Add the hominy, chili powder, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Simmer for another 30 minutes.
  • 5. Serve hot with garnishes like shredded cabbage, sliced radishes, lime wedges, and chopped cilantro.

Notes:

Feel free to adjust the spices to your taste. Pozole is often served with tostadas on the side.
