Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 kg Beef chuck cut into cubes
  • 2 Onions chopped
  • 3 Carrots sliced
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 cup Red wine
  • 4 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Paprika
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 pcs Bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp Thyme fresh or dried
  • 3 Potatoes peeled and cubed

Instructions: 

  • 1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • 2. Add beef cubes and brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  • 3. In the same pot, add onions, carrots, and garlic. Cook until softened.
  • 4. Stir in tomato paste and cook for another minute.
  • 5. Pour in red wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
  • 6. Return beef to the pot. Add beef broth, paprika, salt, pepper, bay leaves, and thyme.
  • 7. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  • 8. Add potatoes and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
  • 9. Remove bay leaves and serve hot.

Notes:

For a richer flavor, let the stew sit overnight in the fridge and reheat before serving.
