  • 1 cup red lentils
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
