Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 3 lb rump roast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions: 

  • Season the rump roast with salt and pepper.
  • Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and heat the olive oil.
  • Sear the rump roast on all sides until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Add onions and garlic to the Instant Pot, sauté until softened.
  • Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, deglaze the pot.
  • Return the rump roast to the Instant Pot.
  • Close the lid, set to high pressure for 60 minutes.
  • Natural release for 15 minutes, then quick release.
  • Remove the roast and let it rest.
  • Mix cornstarch and water, stir into the gravy in the pot.
  • Slice the roast and serve with gravy.

Notes:

For best results, let the roast rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing to retain its juices.
