Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 French rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions: 

  • Place beef chuck roast in a slow cooker.
  • Add onion, garlic, beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until beef is tender.
  • Remove beef from slow cooker and shred with two forks.
  • Strain the cooking liquid and use it for dipping sauce.
  • Preheat oven to broil.
  • Slice French rolls in half and place on a baking sheet.
  • Toast the rolls in the oven until lightly golden.
  • Pile shredded beef on the bottom half of each roll and top with provolone cheese.
  • Place under the broiler until cheese is melted.
  • Serve the sandwiches with the cooking liquid for dipping.

Notes:

Serve with a side of French fries or a simple salad for a complete meal.
